Suzy DeSoto, a girl from the local bordello, is working there only out of necessity. A collection of linked vignettes describes life on Cannery Row. Doc and Suzy don’t quite fit in, but are accepted.

Vincent Marra is a Miami cop on medical leave in Puerto Rico, where he’s being stalked by a sex offender he testified against. Vincent’s girlfriend leaves him for a job as a hostess in an Atlantic City casino, then turns up dead. In Puerto Rico, a cabbie is also found dead. It’s up to Vincent to travel to Atlantic City to see if there is a connection.
