“Each time I work with an author, I say to them, 'A book and a movie are different things.'”

The books are great, the show too, but this comparison is a bit misleading. The show is not based on Supernatural Academy, but on Dragon Marked (Supernatural Prison), by the same author. Supernatural Academy, the books, do make references to people in the show, at least we see someone talking about Misha and we get to see a character that is also in the show. It’s in the same supernatural world, but Supernatural Academy the show, is set on Stratford, in North America, and Supernatural Academy, the books, it’s in a school in Europe, another enclave. The show is more detailed than the book in many aspects, specially where the book is shallow and the show shows us the action. Ex: in the books, we see more details about clothing and food than details about fights, but both didn’t deliver on the classes they have in the academy, which is a shame. But I did love both. I started the second book in the series, don’t think I’ll actually read Dragon Marked, and binged the show twice.
According to the comment by Morgana, we have updated the post by changing the book series the TV series is based on (Supernatural Prison instead of Supernatural Academy, both by Jaymin Eve). Thanks a lot Morgana for reporting the mistake!
