Storyline
Yachine, a 10-year-old boy, resides with his family in the impoverished Sidi Moumen slum located in Casablanca. One of his brothers is in the army, another is almost autistic, and the third, Hamid, aged 13, is the boss of their local neighborhood and Yachine’s protector. After Hamid is sent to jail, Yachine takes up one job after another to escape the cycle of violence, poverty, and drugs. When Hamid is released from prison as an Islamic fundamentalist, he convinces Yachine and his friends to join their ‘brothers’.

A movie gains interest when we know it is based on true events. And when there is also a book behind it, that book becomes essential.
