Storyline
At 82 years old, Mitch Albom’s former rabbi, Albert Lewis, requests that the famous Detroit sportswriter deliver his eulogy when the time comes. Albom visits his hometown in New Jersey, where Rabbi Lewis has led a congregation for approximately 50 years. Despite feeling unworthy, as he is no longer practicing Judaism and has married a Christian, Rabbi Lewis insists that Albom is the one for the task. Over the next 8 years, Albom makes several trips back home and attends Sabbath services, where the determined rabbi continues to lead and inspire his congregation even as his health deteriorates.
