Storyline
Following his dismissal from Oxford, the narrative follows the journey of a young British teacher named Paul Pennyfeather. He eventually finds employment in the private school system in Wales, where he becomes entangled with Margot Beste-Chetwynde, the glamorous mother of one of his students.
