Wade Wilson is a dishonorably discharged special forces operative working as a mercenary when he meets Vanessa, a prostitute. When Wilson discovers Ajax’s real name is Francis and mocks him for it, Ajax leaves Wilson in a hyperbaric chamber that periodically takes him to the verge of asphyxiation over a weekend.

In a dystopian 2023, Sentinels have been programmed to identify and hunt down mutants and any humans who help them. In Moscow, a small band of X-Men survivors consisting of Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Blink, Warpath, Bishop, Iceman and Sunspot are attacked by the Sentinels, but Kitty sends Bishop’s consciousness back in time a few days to warn the others as to ensure their survival.

Working as a limo driver in El Paso, Texas, under his birth name James Howlett, he and mutant tracker Caliban care for 90-year-old Charles Xavier, Logan’s mentor and founder of the X-Men, in an abandoned smelting plant in northern Mexico.

In 1944, in a Nazi death camp, Nazi officer Klaus Schmidt witnesses young prisoner Erik Lehnsherr bending a metal gate with his mind when he is separated from his parents. In Las Vegas, CIA officer Moira MacTaggert follows U.S. Army Colonel Hendry into the Hellfire Club, where she sees Schmidt with mutant telepath Emma Frost, teleporter Azazel, and cyclone-producing Riptide.

In 1845, James Howlett, a boy living in Canada, witnesses his father being killed by groundskeeper Thomas Logan. Six years later, in 1979, Logan works as a logger in Canada, where he lives with his girlfriend Kayla Silverfox. Once the procedure is complete, Stryker orders that Logan’s memory be erased so he can be used as Stryker’s personal weapon, but Logan overhears and escapes to a nearby farm, where an elderly couple takes him in.
