The exploits of Eli Cohen, a Mossad spy, during the years leading to the 1967 Six-Day War between Israel and Syria. It follows Cohen’s past in Egypt as an army reject, to his infiltration of the Syrian Ministry of Defense. He assumes the identity of Kamel Amin Thaabet and establishes himself in Syrian high society. Cohen becomes a close confidant to the future president Amin al-Hafiz.
The series is set in Iraq in 2003, shortly after the ousting of Saddam Hussein. It centres on a former policeman, Muhsin al-Khafaji, as he tries to find his missing daughter, Sawsan. He is mistakenly arrested and tortured by United States troops but then recruited by a former British policeman, Frank Temple, to become a police officer in the Green Zone.
