On Christmas Eve, in 19th century London, Charles Dickens and his friend Rizzo act as narrators throughout the film. His loyal employee Bob Cratchit and the other bookkeepers request to have Christmas Day off since there will be no business for Scrooge on the day, to which he reluctantly agrees.

Gary, a resident of Smalltown, plans a vacation to Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Mary, to celebrate their tenth anniversary, inviting his brother Walter, a fan of the Muppets, who watched The Muppet Show throughout his youth, so he can tour the Muppet Studios. Mary accepts this, as she is a Muppet fan as well, but feels Gary’s devotion to Walter is distracting from their relationship.

Gonzo has always been identified as a whatever; but, after having disturbing dreams of abandonment and rejection, including him being denied entry to Noah’s Ark, he begins to realize just how alone he is in the world. After an alien race appears to be trying to send him a strange mysterious message through his bowl of Kap’n Alphabet cereal, Gonzo realizes that he may not be so alone after all.
