The series delves into the intense five-year manhunt for the notorious serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, widely recognized as The Yorkshire Ripper. Sutcliffe was found guilty of murdering 13 women and trying to kill seven more between 1975 and 1980.

In 1757, British Army Major Duncan Heyward arrives in Albany, New York during the French and Indian War. He is assigned to serve Colonel Edmund Munro, the commander of Fort William Henry in the Adirondack Mountains.
