In a Lego universe populated by anthropomorphic minifigures, the wizard Vitruvius attempts to protect a superweapon called the “Kragle” from the evil Lord Business. He fails to do so, but prophesies that a person called “the Special” will find the Piece of Resistance capable of stopping the Kragle. Lord Business then kicks Vitruvius off of a cliff while saying the prophecy was fake.

The film centers on several reformed yet misunderstood villains known as Mr. Wolf, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, and Ms. Tarantula. The five tire of a life of crime and decide to live their lives as forces of good. Based on the children’s book series of the same name by Aaron Blabey.

Shortly after the invasion led by Lord Business in which Emmet destroys the Kragle using the Piece of Resistance, Duplo aliens arrive in the Lego universe and threaten destruction. Emmet builds the aliens a heart as a token of friendship, but one eats it and demands more. Lucy and the Master Builders believe this to be an attack and retaliate, and the ensuing battle ravages Bricksburg.

In this latest adventure set before the events of the main story, the Bad Guys have a particular fondness for Christmas morning. While everyone is at home unwrapping presents, it provides them with the ideal opportunity for their city-wide holiday heist. However, when Christmas is unexpectedly canceled, the Bad Guys are faced with an unthinkable task: they must revive the city’s holiday spirit by giving instead of taking.
