In the story, a man named Earl has anterograde amnesia. Because of his inability to remember things for more than a few minutes, he uses notes and tattoos to keep track of new information. Earl owes his condition to an attack against him and his wife by an unknown assailant.

Mark, a teenage boy, has been stuck in a time loop, repeating the same day over and over again. At the community pool, he makes repeated attempts to impress a pretty girl by trying to save her from being knocked into the water by a thrown beach ball. Mark tracks her down and discovers that she is also living in the same time loop.

The film is set in a small coastal community in New Jersey where the only action in town is a nightclub called The Pavilion. Pete, the owner of the club, can barely make the payroll, so in an effort to bring in more business, hires a sultry stripper named Danny Lee.
