The story follows Pug Henry’s navigation through the circumstances preceding and unfolding during World War II. His posting in Europe exposes him to the emergence of Nazi Germany, the propagation of fascism, and the mounting tensions that ultimately culminate in the war’s eruption. The miniseries portrays the array of personal and professional trials confronted by Pug Henry and his spouse and their three children, all of whom become entangled in the worldwide turmoil.

Meanwhile, three farmers are attempting to remove an ominous stone column from a field. Two of the farmers head home. A thunderstorm appears out of nowhere, and smoke pours from the ground. Lightning strikes the column. The monster Rawhead Rex rises from the dirt.
